Lot’s of folks watched and/or participated in the over-the-top “Obamathon” this week. The optimism meter with many Americans is off the charts. Even some people who might be considered conservative in their views are beginning to think that maybe “Obama is not as liberal as we thought!” I would just say that rhetoric is not the proper measurement of reality. A good salesman can sell anything and you don’t know what you really have until you start using and experiencing the product.
The product offered by politicians is government! Each side has a different view of what the product should look like and how it should function. The government “product” we experience is determined by the people we elect. In that sense, certain elections can have major consequences. I believe history will prove the Presidential election of 2008 to have been one of those kinds of elections. I also believe the consequences will be quite severe.
Since our schools have failed to teach our younger generations much about American history there is a high degree of ignorance across our land about what type of government was given to us by our founding fathers and what it really means.
